Our Approach
What Goes Into a Garment Matters
We choose fabrics, trims and materials from responsible, ethical suppliers wherever we can, prioritising organic, recycled and certified sustainable textiles, and avoiding materials with harmful chemical finishes. Cutting layouts are planned deliberately to minimise fabric waste, and the offcuts that remain get reused, recycled, or passed on to upcycling initiatives rather than binned. The studio runs on energy-efficient machinery and lighting, and packaging is recyclable, reusable or compostable, kept to the minimum needed to protect what's inside.
Fair Work, Here and Down the Chain
Every person on this team is paid fairly, not at whatever rate keeps a quote low. Staff also share directly in the studio's success through a profit-sharing bonus scheme, sometimes taken individually, sometimes pooled together by the team for a shared trip or experience instead. Employees are free to organise or associate however they choose, without interference. Because some of our work relies on partners further down the supply chain, particularly for embellishment, we maintain a formal Child Labour Remediation Policy, developed in line with Ethical Trading Initiative standards and in partnership with the Centre for Child Rights and Business. If a problem were ever found anywhere in that chain, there's an actual process for fixing it, not a policy sitting unused in a drawer. Safety isn't an afterthought either, the team gets proper training and the workplace itself is built and maintained with that in mind. Forced labour and discrimination have no place here, in this studio or in how we choose who we work with down the chain.
The Less Glamorous Part of Sustainability
We hold ourselves to a written Integrity and Ethical Conduct Policy, and to a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption. None of this is unusual for a large company. It's less common for a studio our size to have it written down at all, and we think that's worth doing anyway.
If something's not right, we want to hear about it, and we take that seriously enough to actually act on it.
The Same Thinking, Applied to Our Own Team
Even the smaller things carry the same approach. The team has access to a cycle to work scheme, genuinely used, not just offered as a line item. Sustainability here isn't a page on the website that stops being true the moment you scroll past it.
